Abstract

Variable Stars South is a loose association of astronomers, mainly amateur, interested in researching the rich and under-explored myriad of southern variable stars. Whether you’re an active variable star observer and researcher, or considering getting involved in variable star work, or just curious about this rich and important field, you are warmly invited to attend and contribute. Biography

The symposium convenor is Mark Blackford, current director of Variable Stars South. He has been an amateur astronomer for nearly 5 decades. Since 2010 Mark has been observing eclipsing binary and other types of variable stars with DSLR and CCD cameras.
