Lunar Occultation Observations and Results including double star events

Abstract

This presentation will update listeners on the current progress of lunar occultation observing and results including new double star discoveries (and debunking) .

Biography

Brian has been actively observing occultations since 1980 as a member of the Occultation Section of the RASNZ. From 1985 to 1996 he worked at the USNO Black Birch Astrometric station in New Zealand. Since 2007 he has been receiving observations of double star occultations from observers in a number of countries worldwide. The collation of these observations has resulted in a number of papers being published in the Journal of Double Star Observations. Over the last few years, Brian has been coordinating the global effort to use lunar occultation observations to discover and monitor close binary stars. Brian was made a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society of New Zealand in 2015.
