Call for Presentations, 2024 — Deadline closed – NACAA – National Australian Convention of Amateur Astronomers

The 2024 NACAA will be held in Parkes, NSW, hosted by the Central West Astronomical Society. There are already several events running in conjunction with NACAA XXXI; click here to see the preliminary programme. The Programme Committee is now looking for general presentations to fill the technical sessions on the Saturday and Sunday. Note: we will give preference to presenters who will attend the event. There is no specific theme for this NACAA, but given that our venue is Parkes we would be very interested in presentations related to amateur radio astronomy. And we look forward to presentations on the 2023 total solar eclipse in Western Australia or beyond. But feel free to propose a talk on any of our usual broad range of topics, such as: • an observational (or desk-bound) research programme you are involved in; • a interesting development in instrumentation and tools: optical, computational, imaging, electronic, etc; • your progress with a signiﬁcant project or programme, national or worldwide; • sharing your imaging successes with an appreciative audience; • an entertaining address aimed at promoting the enjoyment of astronomy; • a signiﬁcant club or local activity; or • an interesting piece of astronomical history. The usual duration for presentations is 30 minutes. Longer presentations can be difficult to schedule but you are welcome to convince us that your presentation is worthy of extra time. The deadline for submitting proposals is Sunday November 5th. Proposals after this date may be accepted, but early submissions will make it easier for the PC to organise the event. There will be a call for “poster” presentations in early 2024 for participants who don’t want to do an oral presentation but would like to share their work with the NACAA community. These could include the tradition of pinning pages to a church door — sorry, poster board — or something more modern to be shared via a laptop or NACAA’s website.
