How to Give Great Powerpoint Presentations

Some presentations are straightforward text and/or image presentations. To develop something more dynamic, you may include movies in many different formats. Sometimes playing movies can prompt annoying warnings or reveal projector incompatibilities. This talk will describe how to ensure that your movies will run smoothly: which players to use; best ways to launch the movies; expanding to full screen if necessary; when not to ‘escape’. I'll also provide other handy tips: text styles and image placement; checking the format of the display; things to know about your mouse; showing text and movies simultaneously; and general advice on what makes a good presentation.

Lesa Moore

Lesa Moore has been an amateur astronomer and member of the Astronomical Society of NSW (ASNSW) since 1986. Her astronomical activities have included running courses in basic astronomy and working at three public-access observatories: Koolang Observatory (1992-2010), Macquarie University Observatory (2002-2009) and Sydney Observatory (from 2008 to the present). She made a gradual transition into professional astronomy through her studies at Macquarie University. She attained an honours degree in 2003 and completed a Master of Philosophy in Astronomy in 2008. For five years, Lesa lectured in physics to nurses and environmental science students at the Australian Catholic University, North Sydney. Currently, Lesa enjoys education and public outreach activities with Princess Cruises, Sydney Observatory and the ASNSW.
