Abstract

After missing out on the Patagonian total solar eclipse in December 2020 due to border closures caused by COVID, I crossed my fingers and booked a cabin on a French cruise ship heading to Antarctica with a detour to the 2021 December 4 total eclipse. Amazingly, in spite of all of the COVID restrictions at the time, I was able to board the cruise and came back uninfected. In this talk, I’ll tell the saga of what was involved in the trip of a lifetime to see Antarctica and Patagonia, and the path of totality, and will present lots of photos.

Biography

I’ve been involved with NACAA since I attended my first one in 1970. Since then, I’ve attended almost all of the conventions, and played various roles behind the scenes since the formation of NACAA INC. This was my sixteenth expedition to photograph a total solar eclipse. I’m looking forward to many more in the future.
