New Solar System

‘Probing the New Solar System’ is a 2009-released book written by science educator John Wilkinson and published by the CSIRO Australia. The book discusses the latest findings that have contributed to a changed understanding of the solar system – and how a revised definition of a planet in 2006 and 2008 by the International Astronomical Union affected this understanding.
Each chapter includes historical information, updated tables of data and photographs of objects in the solar system showing newly discovered features of planets, their moons and of dwarf planets.
The book is an up-to-date record of the many recent discoveries made about the solar system and other exoplanetary systems using ground-based and space-probe technology. The book has been written for people, both professional and amateur, interested in astronomy, as well as for students and educators.

John is a Science Educator and former science teacher/university lecturer. He is an author of many science textbooks and regularly writes for science journals on Astronomy topics. His latest book "Probing the new Solar System" has been published by the CSIRO in Australia. John is a keen astronomer and operates an observatory in his own backyard in Central Victoria. His main interests in Astronomy are the Solar System and Moon.
