Dr Albert Jones, OBE, FRASNZ, passed away in Nelson on 14 September 2013, aged 93 years, following a short illness. He was one of the world’s best known amateur astronomers and was actively observing up until just a couple of years ago. Over his lifetime he amassed in excess of 500,000 variable star observations, as well as discovering two comets, and being credited with the co-discovery of Supernova SN 1987A.

The 10th Trans-Tasman Symposium on Occultations will be held in conjunction with NACAA again in 2016. The symposium will start in the afternoon of Sunday March 27, and continue on Monday March 28. Stay tuned for further announcements.
