Planetary Imaging Workshop (cancelled due to COVID)

Abstract
In this two hour workshop, Anthony will discuss and demonstrate the use of current software and techniques for obtaining high resolution planetary images. The software used will include: – Firecapture for image video acquisition – AutoStakkert version 4 for image stacking – WaveSharp 1.0 beta for image enhancement – WinJupos for measuring and merging multiple images – The Gimp for final image enhancements and cleanup He will supply raw data from his own archive, both old and recent, that can be used in this workshop. Any attendees who wish to participate in image processing are encouraged to bring a laptop with this set of applications installed and working. Recommended minimum specs would be: – Windows 10 or higher – intel core i7 quad core or higher – 16 Gb RAM – SSD or NVME storage – USB 3 Attendees can optionally bring their own data for use during the workshop but please take note of the 2 hour time limit for the workshop. Biography
Anthony has been an avid planetary photographer since 2003, pursuing this as his primary interest in astronomy. He has an Honours degree in Computing Science from the University of New England (1988) and has spent his days as a professional software developer since 1989. His other non-astronomy interests include Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Amateur Radio. He received the 2012 Page Medal from the ASA for his planetary observations.
