Abstract
Comprising the light curve of eta car (A3 size) with text boxes containing stories about some of the contributors, pointing to their observations. For example: The Dutch navigator Pieter Keyser (1540?-1596) sailed to the southern seas in the 1590’s to map the southern sky. His observations, including that of ETA Car, or ETA Argus as it then was (3.5mag, adjusted to modern V standard), were expensive; a third of the 248 sailors died of scurvy….. There will also be E. Halley, H. Russell, F. Abbott, J. Tebbutt, A. Jones, P. Williams, etc. + one A4 page with the entire list of observers used in the figure (hundreds)
