The 2011 Nobel prize in Physics has been awarded to Saul Perlmutter, Adam Riess, and Brian Schmidt “for the discovery of the accelerating expansion of the Universe through observations of distant supernovae”. Brian Schmidt works at the ANU/Mount Stromlo Observatory. Read all about it here. NACAA congratulates Dr Schmidt and the ANU for this significant achievement.

NACAA and the RASNZ are happy to announce that, after the success of TTSO 7 in Invercargill, the next Trans-Tasman Symposium on Occultations will occur in conjunction with NACAA XXVI. Further details and a call for participation will be announced in due course.
