Computer software must adjust for the hemisphere it is being used in. The historic use of nomenclature for the solstices and equinoxes and associated terms originated in the northern hemisphere. Given the state of digital technology and varied seasons across the Earth, a universal approach to naming should be a global approach. A global approach would allow the nomenclature to be relevant on any position on Earth, and suitable to relocate and adapt to another Planet or solar system body, should the future present an opportunity for this to occur.
