Modern Lens Design Techniques

This workshop will explain to the participants the fundamentals of lens design.

A definition and explanation of terms pertaining to lens design, starting from basic concepts, will be presented. This will include the optical properties of glasses, leading to an explanation of lens aberrations and the necessity for optimization.

A discussion of the latest optical materials and their applications will be also presented.

Several lens design techniques and examples will be presented, combining the use of the latest optical materials with the use of modern lens design software.
